Basic Information
What is Furcadia?
Furcadia is basically a multiplayer online game where people can chat and roleplay. There will probably be more features in upcoming versions. If you want a more detailed explanation, visit The *Official* Furcadia Page. You can download Furcadia there.

What do you do in Furcadia?
The two main things people do on Furcadia are socialize and roleplay. You are not required to be "in character" except in areas that are designated as roleplaying-only areas. There are three basic types of play:
- OOC (Out Of Character): In this style, you are just being yourself, and there are no real restrictions.
- Persona Play: Here, you play in-character casually, but you can also feel free to go OOC. This style is very freeform; there is no serious storyline or rules you must follow.
- IC (In Character): In this mode, you roleplay a character and you stick to his/her personality at all times (or nearly so). You play under a set of certain rules and follow a storyline. There are different levels of being IC (the official rules and such are listed on Talzhemir's page) and different sets of rules, depending on who you play with. Please see the section about Your Character for more information on roleplaying.
Please visit Talzhemir's Treasure Trove for more information.

Your Character
When you run Furcadia for the first time, you will be asked to create a character. Colors, species, gender, etc. can be changed later if you change your mind.
Changing Your Character
To make changes to your character, run the plredit.exe program that came with Furcadia when you downloaded it. The new version of Furcadia comes with a character editting program for Windows called fured.exe.
You can always go and change your name and password in the furcadia.ini file if you're sure you know what you're doing. (Warning: Making random changes to your furcadia.ini file may render it invalid!)
Also, patches for personalizing Furcadia are available, but changes made by the patches will only be seen by those who have that same patch.
Roleplaying
Official roleplaying rules for Furcadia can be found at Talzhemir's site
, but they are not the only rules you can adopt. There are various guilds in existence which offer different rule sets and roleplaying environments. A list of chartered guilds can be also be found at Talzhemir's.
Details
If you want to know more about perfecting your roleplaying character or how to add QQQ codes or a longname, you can consult Talzhemir's Treasure Trove for official rules.

Dreams
Oh, yes, and another thing you can do in Furcadia is build your own Dream. A Dream editor has kindly been included with Furcadia. Just run edit.exe in your Furcadia folder or type ctrl + e while you are playing Furcadia to open the editor. Read the text file carefully for instructions.
The Dream editor allows you to build your own map that you can upload to the Internet so you can share it with others. You can use the built-in language, DragonSpeak, to program events in your Dream. Press d while the editor is open to read about and learn DragonSpeak.
